Azee (Azithromycin) is used to treat various bacterial infections. It is an antibiotic of the macrolide type, and is sometimes also referred to as Azithromysin. This medication is not effective in treating viral infections. Bacterial infections treated can include upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) including pharyngitis and acute otitis, lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) including acute bronchitis and pneumonia, uncomplicated genital Infections including cervicitis and urethritis, skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) including pyoderma and furuncolosis as well as other conditions not listed here.

The usual dose for adults taking Azee (Azithromycin) is between 250mg and 500mg, and is taken each day for a course 3 days. When treating genital infections such as Chlamydia it is usually prescribed as a single dose. Elderly and young patients will normally require a reduced dosage. Dosing can either be done on an empty or a full stomach, although if you experience an upset stomach after dosing you can lessen the severity by dosing alongside a meal or snack.
Side effects are usually mild, but you should report any you notice to your physician. If any persist or bother you, inform your physician as soon as possible. Side effects which have been reported by patients taking Azee (Azithromycin) include abdominal pains, flatulence, mild nausea, headaches, dizziness, despepsia, and angioedema.
