Arrow-Dortim is a combination of Dorzolamide Hydrochloride and Timolol Maleate. It is indicated in the treatment of glaucoma and high intraocular pressure (IOP). Arrow-Dortim works by inhibiting carbonic anhydrase enzyme and decreasing production of aqueous humor which reduces intraocular pressure.
Arrow-Dortim is supplied in a dropper bottle. The solution should by administered directly into the eye. Usual dosage is one drop into the affcted eye twice daily.
Wash your hands before using Arrow-Dortim. To apply the drops, tilt your head back and pull down on your lower eyelid and drop the solution into the pocket that forms. Do not let the bottle touch your eye.
If you use contact lenses, these will need to be removed prior to application. Wait at least 15 minutes before re-inserting lenses.
If you are taking any other ophthalmic treatments, allow at least 10 minutes between applications.
The most common side effects of Arrow-Dortim are a burning or stinging senstaion in the eye or other eye discomfort. Taste abnormalities are also common.
Less common side effects can include cardiovascular abnormalities, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, urinary tract infection, upper respiratory tract infection, and flu-like symptoms.
Contact your doctor if you experience any side effects that are a concern to you.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Safety has not be established in children younger than two years old.
Do not use if you are hypersensative to sulfonamides.
Tell your doctor if you have any heart, liver or kidney problems.
The following types of medication can prevent Arrow-Dortim from working properly, or and have their function impaired by Arrow-Dortim.
